The pressure injection of aqueous solutions into the ground is called injection stabilization of the ground. Depending on the application such as tabilization of expansive soils and railroad subgrades the composition of the aqueous solution is determined. Injection pipes are advanced into the treatment zone by the injection units. An aqueous solution of water, lime slurry, or potassium chloride is injected to reduce shrink/swell potential for treatment of expansive soils. The technique has been used to treat below planned and existing railways, roadways and buildings.
Water Pressure Injection is a process used to pre-swell expansive soils. Dry soil conditions can create the need for water injection as well as any soils with a high PVR. Water injection has been used successfully in construction industry for many years. Temeltek has been successfully used in many projects including commercial building pads, residential foundation pads, power plants, machinery foundations, parking garages, parking lots, and city streets.
The water pressure injection process consists of injection a water/surfactant mixture into the sub grade at high pressure, typically 50 to 200 PSI. Injection points are spaced on a 1.50 meter grid pattern. Injection rods descend at 30 to 45 cm intervals; waiting for refusal at each injection increment.Refusal is achieved once the injected water begins to return to the surface. When refusal is achieved the probes are advanced to the next elevation.
Chemical injection is another technique to achieve the right soils bby the design. It is a technique which allows injecting the chemicals into the ground in order to achive soils to shed soil to shed moisture rather than absorbing and swelling during the wet season. It halts the clay soil expanding during the rainy days of the year. Keeping the soil in a more consistent state, allowing construction to occur without bringing in select fill or using other expensive measures to counter the adverse effects of clay and variable moisture. The ionic exchange of the chemicals and the soil, changes the changes the molecular structure of the soil . Injecting chemical into the soil has been proven to be a very reliable solution to swelling and shrinking caused by soils containing clay.
